How period delay pills work
Having your period whilst preparing for an exam or travelling can be inconvenient. Delaying your period can be helpful when these important events occur. Period delay medication should be started at least 3 days before your expected period or event. Norethisterone can help you to delay your period for up to 17 days if your trip is lengthy.
When you take norethisterone, it is important to remember that it does not act as a contraception method. If you plan on continuing to have sex during your period delay treatment, use another form of contraception like a condom. You should not be using norethisterone if you are already taking a combined pill for contraception.
You should not be using this form of treatment if you are prone to blood clots or have a past history of blood clotting.

Side effects
Norethisterone may cause an individual to experience side effects including breast tenderness, mood swings and headaches.
